In person shopping or online shopping? 40S Students - We'll take the first few minutes of class to go over the quiz from last week. (and AP students - this was on your cram sesh!) With the rest of your time, please work on Hangman Note: Review coming tomorrow! AP Students - Today we're going to go through this worksheet and starter on Polymorphism. Afterwards, please complete at least 2 exercises in 9.6 this evening. Question of the Day:
Passwords or Secret Handshakes 40S Students: Today you are working on the Hangman lab (in 6.4 on CodeHS)! You'll have about 3 days to work on this, along with some review for your Unit 5 and 6 test on Monday. I'll talk about this at the beginning so that you know what you're working on. AP Students: I'll chat about using the keyword Super, as well as creating references using inheritance hierarcies using the notes. We'll use 9.4.6 - Squares to talk about using the super keyword, and 9.5.6 - Pies to discuss creating references. Afterwards, choose 2 exercises each from 9.4 and 9.5 (4 exercises) total to help you solidify your understanding. Question of the Day:
What is the the silliest way you've hurt yourself? 40S Students: Please start off by working on CodeHS - Arrays - Algorithm Practice (AFTER 6.4.8) We will talk about these during the second half of class. I will go over your quizzes tomorrow. AP Students: I will start off today by talking to you about overriding methods. After that, please open on open CodeHS 9.3 work (Note: Online Companies is Optional) To be completed for tomorrow: 40S: Almost all of CodeHS Unit 6 (should have 1-2 exercises left) AP: All CodeHS 9.1-9.3 Question of the Day:
If you could magically gain one skill without working for it, what would it be? 40S Students: Please work on open CodeHS 6.4 work - Developing Algorithms using arrays. AP Students: We'll look at 9.2.3 as well as these slides to explore what happens with constructors in a class hierarchy. Afterwards, please work on CodeHS 9.2 open exercises to solidify your understandings about Note: AP students - Cram Session tomorrow night from 3:50pm-7:30pm-ish. Which celebrity/historical figure would you want to workout with? 40S Students: I will teach you during the first part of class. We'll be focused on 6.3 - Enhanced For Loops (AKA for each loops). Please open CodeHS - 6.3.6: Print Odds and we'll go over it together. We'll also chat about 6.3.8, as it uses objects with arrays. Please work on the open codeHS modules with the second part of class. AP Students: Please use the first half of class to either work on existing overdue work (ie. CodeHS work, AP classroom questions, or Edsby study group homework), or start looking through CodeHS 9.1 - Inheritance. At about 11:15, we'll look at CodeHS 9.1.6, 9.1.7, and these slides to get a better idea of how inheritance works. Question of the Day:

Here's what's on the docket for today. First part of class: AP Students - I will speak with you on teams at 11am! Please have your Merge Sort worksheet out and ready to discuss. 40S Students - please use the first half of class to mark your pretest from yesterday using the answer key here. If you have remaining time before our teams meeting at 11:20ish, please work on open CodeHS work from Unit 6. Second part of class (11:20 onwards): AP Students - Please work on the 2D Arrays Paper practice that Ms. Cormier has for you (use the answer key here to mark it afterwards). Then, please work on this Diverse Array question on paper. This is all to be completed for tomorrow. 40S Students - Please open up CodeHS 6.2.10 - Fibonacci Sequence and meet on teams. Although I know you were all working really hard from home yesterday... What sort of fun did you have? 40S Students: Please use the time before Monday to GET CAUGHT UP. Everyone is behind on open CodeHS Modules. Expect a Unit 5 Classes FRQ quiz question on Monday! You will not have a compiler for this, and will have to create a class given a description and example method calls. AP Students: Today I want you to take a peek at the recursive binary search algorithm and merge sort algorithm on CodeHS. Can you make sense of how it works? Hopefully this will bridge some gaps! We'll go over the Recursion Examples found here. Afterwards, please complete the Recursion Worksheet independently. Also - don't forget: You need to work on Unit 8: 2D Arrays this weekend. APs - FOR MONDAY - please bring headphones that will fit into the computer's auxilary ports! |
